A Berry Bread Recipe Mama'd Be Proud Of
Who Else Wants Berry Bread?
The fall months are gonna be here before you know it and in my family, that's when the bread baking starts. And what better bread to bake than berry bread? Forget banana bread and kiss zucchini bread goodbye. This berry bread recipe is about to become your favorite.
Strawberry Bread
Who wouldn't love a warm, moist delicious strawberry bread treat? Here's a strawberry bread recipe that's been handed down in my family from generation to generation.
First, you need to gather your ingredients for this great berry bread. You'll need:
3 cups of flour
2 1/2 cups chopped strawberries
2 cups of sugar
1 1/4 cups vegetable oil
4 eggs (beaten)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
Baking Your Berry Bread
First, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Then, in a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking soda and salt. Press your hand down into the middle of the mixture to make a "well" in the bowl. Then, in a separate bowl, combine the remaining ingredients.
Now mix the contents of the second bowl into the contents of the third bowl. Stir the berry bread batter until it is mixed well and pour it into two greased bread pans. Bake at 350 for one hour, let the berry bread cool and you've got yourself a delicious berry bread treat.
Other Berries
Of course, if you don't like strawberries, this berry bread recipe will work with other berries as well. Try it with blackberries or raspberries and see how it turns out. Health food nuts can even try it with Goji berries. Experiment with it and let me know how it goes. I'm always interested in making old recipes new again.
