Granny’s Best Kept Blueberry Pie Secret

4 secrets to make a scrumptious blueberry pie

Blueberry pie is one of Berry Jerry’s favorite treats. There are literally hundreds of recipes for blueberry pie, but Granny’s blueberry pie recipe is by far the best of all time.

Berry Jerry reveals Granny’s secret for the most lip-smacking blueberry pie…

The four secrets to making the perfect blueberry pie are:

1. Make home-made pie crust.

2. Use only the freshest blueberries.

3. Use real butter that is room temperature.

4. Serve the blueberry pie warm with home-made vanilla ice cream.

Here is Granny’s recipe for fabulous blueberry pie:

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

Sift 2 cups of flour and combine it with 1/2 cup of sour cream and 5 ounces of butter. Separate the dough into 2 parts and refrigerate it for about 10 minutes, then roll the crusts out. Use one to line a 9 inch pie plate for the blueberry pie, save the other one to use as the top crust once you have prepared the blueberry pie filling and put it in the bottom crust.

Mix 3 cups of fresh blueberries with 1 1/4 cups of sugar, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, and 3 tablespoons of quick cooking tapioca. Put the mixture in the pie crust and dot with 1 tablespoon of butter (I use a little more than that sometimes). Sprinkle about 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon over the mixture.

Did you know? Anytime you bake a pie for more than 30 minutes, you should cover the edges of the crust with foil until about 10 minutes before the pie is done to prevent the edges of the crust from getting too brown, or burning.

Finishing touches:

Put the top crust on the blueberry pie and flute the edges. Sprinkle about 1 tablespoon of sugar over the top crust, cover the outer edges of the pie crust with foil. Bake the blueberry pie for about 40 minutes, remove the foil and bake for another 10 minutes.

Serve the blueberry pie warm (not hot) with home-made vanilla ice cream. This is really the best blueberry pie recipe I have ever tried and enjoying it with good friends and great family makes it even better!
